CREATIVE WRITING I
2018
The word “Beautiful” is generally used to describe
something nice in our eyes and meaningful, something which is hard to explain .
Even though we often attribute beautiful to the Human. There are things in our
everyday lives that make us open our eyes wide and say , “ Wow, That’s beautiful”.
Lucky for me, God put us on one of the Beautiful
Island in the world, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) . NTB, with Mataram as its
capital, in corporate the Island of Lombok in west and Sumbawa in the north. There
were 3 main tribes in NTB there they are Sasak ( mostly in Lombok), Samawa ( mostly in West side
Sumbawa Island ) , and Mbojo ( mostly in the east side and: Bima the centre of
Sumbawa Island: Dompu ). Which is NTB
offers many enchanting holiday destinations for tourists from all over the
world. NTB actually has whole lot more to offer. There’s also challenging mountains
to climb, a thousand of beautiful Beaches to see, many festivals, and many more. In addition, We
are delighted to announce that NTB is a Halal Tourist Destination. Other than
that, here in West Nusa Tenggara, I found 3 things of local beauty that were
more beauty than the girl itself that was amazed me. And I am happy to show
them to you !
1.Rimpu, A traditional Hijab
of Mbojo’s Women
Rimpu
is a traditional Hijab Used to covers
Mbojo’s women head in ancient times until now. In ancient time
Rimpu usually used during the official
event and also used for their daily activities. Rimpu is the most strong moral, social, proprietary,
and religious attire for Mbojonese.
Among
the people of Mbojo, Rimpu known as two
kinds. They are Rimpu Cili / Rimpu Mpida and Rimpu Colo.
Where
Rimpu Cili/Mpida are usually used by young women and adolescents. While Rimpu colo
was usually used by the mothers who already got married. In Mbojo’s Women tradition, Rimpu should be used
when they were leaving the house. Otherwise, they have violated the
moral law its self.
Bimanese
was well known as the most female users
of Rimpu, because Rimpu had provided a
very high symbol and social polarity. Mbojo’s Women said when
they were wearing Rimpu they felt very
comfortable. This is because Rimpu itself used Tembe Nggoli.
Tembe Nggoli was a traditional woven fabric of Mbojo tribe with a motive that tends to be
brightly colored from spinning yarn from the best cotton in Bima, because
of this material was. When Tembe Nggoli Used
at the cold temperatures it will warm your body and cooling when if it hot temperature .
that’s why Mbojo’s women liked to wore Rimpu while they
went outside not only for the sake of moral and religious values
but also protected them from the sun shine in Bima which is known as one of the hottest zone in Indonesia.
In this day, Rimpu instead of fading but
increasingly more famous by the Festival Rimpu itself. The Motive of woven fabric that became Rimpu fabric
itself had become its own fashion trend in Indonesia at 2017 because brought by
Indonesia’s famous designers such as Ivan Gunawan and Dian Pelangi in some
fashion week. 2017 fashion trends itself lifted "Colorful" theme
which is very compatible with the motives of
woven fabric in Bima . If you
want to learn how to wear Rimpu , you could find a lot of Tutorial videos on
Youtube.
2. LOMBOK:
A THOUSAND MOSQUES ISLAND WAS A THOUSAND THIEVES ISLAND
Maybe you will frown when you read the terms above. And suddenly a flash of questions will pop up in your mind. how could the Island of a thousand mosques be a hotbed of thieves? Is there a lot of Muslims, isn’t it ? Do all the Muslims were a thief ? and many possibly other questions. Hold on!
Do you know
what the term means?
Here's the
story. The island of Lombok which belongs to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is
like the opposite of Bali Island. On this island, the majority of the
people are Muslims.
The
magnificent and luxurious mosques will be easily found in every village along
the island. The island is divided into 4 districts of West Lombok,
Central, East and the latest is North Lombok.
It makes sense
if the island is located not far from Bali is called to have a thousand
mosques. But, why juxtaposed with the term 'million thieves'?
To get the
answer, try to visit the traditional village of Sade, Central Lombok. Sade
Village is one of the hamlets in Rimbitan Village, Pujut District, Central
Lombok Regency.
Sasak tribe,
as indigenous tribes of Lombok Island derived from ethnic Austronesia, inhabit
this village and serve as a cultural tourism village. People in this
village still adhere to the customs and culture of their ancestors.
Sasak
tribe
Sade Village
is the oldest village of Sasak tribe that has now developed into 9 kampung (
Kampong) . The village of 150 houses with 150 heads of families is
inhabited by 700 residents. Everyone here brothers because married to their
cousins, it is very rare that married to residents outside the village of Sade.
Marriage with
fellow Sasak is considered cheaper because it only requires a dowry set of
prayer tools. Meanwhile, if married to outsiders, the dowry can be with 2
buffalo, very expensive for them. The entire Sade is Muslim.
In Sasak tribe
is unique. Men are required to kidnap or flee their idol girl before they
get married.
After being
kidnapped - locals call it stolen like a thief - the man's parents will ask for
an intermediary or called a therapist, to be reunited with the female family.
It is the
reporter who will report to the customary chief and the woman's
parents. It was this reporter who reported that the daughter of the
woman's parents had been taken away. The man is serious to marry her. If a
man asked nicely for a woman's parents, she would be considered a good item,
but if it was stolen it would be honorable.
Well, from
this custom is the reason for Lombok is called the island of a million
"thieves". Not that in Lombok a lot of theft and unsafe, but
related to the way of marriage in the Sasak tribe that must be done by fleeing
the girls of the people.
Sasak Sasak
girl, will not be kidnapped if not able to weave the typical songket of
Lombok. The average Sasak girl will marry at the age of 15-16 years and
the man will get married at the age of 18-19 years.
Parents have
taught girls to weave since the age of nine. Weaving cloth is the work of
women on the sidelines waiting for a husband or men who livelihood as a
rain-fed farmer.

this story back sticking out. The dark story, 200 years ago, April 10-11, 1815,
when the doomsday started from the land of Sumbawa raises many questions about
the events and strange that then hit the world even up to three years ahead.
But, the eruption of Mount Tambora eruption which until now recorded
down hereditary by the surrounding community as "Au-ash Rainy Days"
not only gave birth to disaster. Various works of culture, art and great literature
were born to follow the phenomenal event. Mary Godwin's novel Frankenstein,
and Lord Byron's Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, are two of the great literary works
inspired by the effects of Tambora's powerful eruption.
Not only in Europe, from the cold hands of Li Yuyang born rhyme verses
that tell the story of the famine in China due to lack of food supplies due to
the weather instability of 1816-1817.
Sumbawa own then developed the story of society in understanding this big event.
The verses of poetry flow describe how terrible it was when Tambora Mount erupted.
As if the apocalypse would and had happened then.
Families scattered to save themselves.
The sky is black, the earth shakes, the roar,
the ash rain and the licking flames of fire flare up through the sky.
The morning and afternoon sun monasteries that enclose the gigantic caldera
Tambora always have tremendous magical power,
the usual natural charm of Mount Tambora. The enormous nature and reputation
of its eruption that shook the world is now increasingly thrilling adventurous souls from
all over the world. Tambora, now a national park, is increasingly asserting
that God's creation is of great value to nature, civilization and humanity.
The Tambora had his own National big event “Tambora Menyapa Dunia Festival”.
